Raelyn

Raelyn strode from the chamber; the hem of her red dress brushed the marble tiles with each step. The metal shod butt of the staff clicked on the tiles as she walked. As she entered the corridor a gust of wind caught her raven black hair tossing it about her face. She turned and looked back into the room. The tiara and ring rested on the table where she put them. Their loss sent spasms of pain through her whole body. She ached to take them back, but she knew she was doing the right thing.

The visions were never wrong. Another woman would take them someday. That woman would have to finish the battle that she and Vailen had halted with the sealing of the pit. The creatures they called demons would find a way back. The fabric between the worlds was too thin.

She raised her staff, the blood red stone burst with light. The massive doors of the chamber slammed shut and red light sealed around and between them. She whispered a word of power to hide and guard them. The staff would lead the next Argent to this chamber when the fabric tore once more. Raelyn turned and walked away, never looking back.
